Top WordPress Plugins to Enhance Website Functionality

WordPress is one the most popular content management systems on the Internet. The wide range of plugins that are available to enhance the functionality of websites is one of the main reasons why WordPress has become so popular. WordPress allows you to create an informative website with a blog and commenting. It’s only functionality is limited until you add plugins.

What is a plug-in?

WordPress plugins are software programs that can be installed on a WordPress site to enhance its functionality, add new features, or customize the existing ones. These plugins can be installed and integrated easily into a WordPress website without the need for extensive coding skills or development knowledge.

WordPress plugins are available for a variety of functions, ranging from simple ones like adding a form to more complex ones like ecommerce, SEO optimizations, social media integrations, security enhancements and much more. These plugins are like apps that you can add to your WordPress site. They allow you to customize your website to meet your needs, without having to create these features from scratch.

A website that we create usually contains around 20 plugins. These are some of my favorite plugins, along with what I use them to do and why I recommend it.

What plugins do I use to extend WordPress functionality?

  1. Gravity forms
Gravity Forms allows you to create all types of forms in WordPress without having to break a sweat. Drag-and-drop functionality makes it easy to use for anyone, even if you’re not a techie. Gravity Forms can help you create a contact page, registration page or even an interesting survey. It also has some neat tricks, such as smart conditional logic, and a smooth payment handling. This plugin is perfect for anyone looking to interact with site visitors and collect information.
  2. WooCommerce
WooCommerce, the superhero of WordPress e-commerce, is a must for any WordPress website. It’s a plugin that transforms your website into an online shop. It allows you to sell everything from digital products to clothes. You can easily customize and set up your store – change colors, add images of products, and set the prices, all without having to know any technical jargon. It has a lot of free and premium add-ons to boost your store. These include things like shipping, tax, and payments. Shoppers can browse the products, add them into their cart and check out securely.
  3. SEO Yoast
Yoast SEO acts as your own personal SEO expert for your WordPress website. It is a plugin which helps you to climb up the Google rankings. It allows you to easily modify your content so that it is more search engine friendly. Yoast will check if you have used the right keywords in your articles and give you a thumbs-up (or down) for your SEO. You have to make use of the tools that it provides. Installing it won’t improve your SEO.
  4. MemberPress
MemberPress is the WordPress plugin you should use to manage memberships and subscriptions for your website. You can think of it as having a bouncer on the door of your digital club. You can create and control exclusive products or content for your members with MemberPress. You can create different membership levels, restrict the content and sell digital products. It’s also payment gateway friendly, making it easy to handle payments. MemberPress will help you build a community, offer premium content and earn extra money. Are you looking for examples of MemberPress membership sites? Dope Yogi, and North Carolina Evaluators are two examples of membership sites using MemberPress.
  5. Beaver Builder
I say that WordPress is simple to use but difficult to create. Beaver Builder, my favourite page builder tool, helps to bridge this divide. With a drag-and-drop user interface, this plugin lets you create beautiful pages. This plugin is a game changer for creating custom layouts. You can also see the changes you make in real time. It’s compatible with other plugins and themes, so there are no conflicts in the website world.
  6. The Event Calendar
The Events Calendar plugin by Modern Tribe simplifies event planning and helps you stay on schedule. This plugin is perfect for planning events such as meetings, webinars or concerts. It can even be used to plan a neighborhood bake-sale. This plugin offers a simple interface to create and manage events. You can view them in different views, such as calendar, list or day. It’s also customizable and seamlessly integrates with your website’s theme.
  7. WPML
WPML is the passport for creating a global WordPress website. This plugin allows you to speak the language of your audience, regardless of where they are from. This plugin is perfect for bloggers, businesses and organizations that want to reach a larger, multilingual audience. WPML allows you to easily translate the content of your website, be it posts, pages or custom post types. Translations can be managed directly from the WordPress dashboard. Compatible with all WordPress themes and plug-ins, it ensures a seamless multilingual experience. WPML transforms your website into a global hub that welcomes visitors from all over the world, and breaks down language barriers.
